The curtain of oral defensivness has been tightly tightly drawn in recent weeks. Even little tastes for Mic have been at a bare minimum of almost zero, despite my best efforts and sneaky tactics.
But yesterday she spent some time with her grandma and auntie, who were feeding her watermelon!!! They say she probably had the equvilent of a small slice! And most amazing, she was handling dice sized bites without setting her gag reflex off. Oh! this makes me sooooo happy!
Breakfast is her worst time of the day for oral receptivness, it is when she is most "gaggy". But this morning I got lost in cyberland and am very very late with her first tube feeding and (gasp!) she felt and recognized and responded correctly to hunger!!! Abeit it only took about three small bites to curb the hunger and be very done with any oral stimulation, but she took a few bites and that is amazing.
I think today is going to be a very wonderful day!!! : )
